Meet the Doctors

Ryan H. Yim, DDS

Dr. Yim was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He grew up in a family of health care professionals and found his passion for dentistry through annual dental check-ups with his uncle, who is a pediatric dentist. After attending Iolani School, Dr. Yim moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Creighton University. He then continued his education at Creighton University and achieved a Doctor of Dental Surgery. In pursuing his studies, he found that he was drawn toward the esthetics and regenerative aspects of periodontics. Moving closer to home, Dr. Yim completed his training through the Periodontics Residency at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon, where he was fortunate to provide dental care to both the general population at OHSU's School of Dentistry as well as our country's veterans at the VAH Portland. Though he enjoyed the diversity and beauty of the pacific northwest, Dr. Yim always felt home was where his family is and made the move back to Honolulu. Shortly after returning to Hawaii, he joined Dr. Cassella and Dr. Tran in the practice of periodontics and implants.

Allison P. Tran, DDS

Dr. Allison P. Tran received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Kansas, and then earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2004 from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. She taught general dentistry at the school and went into private practice for two years before entering a periodontic residency program at the same institution and graduating in 2008 with her Certificate in Periodontics. In May of 2010, Dr. Tran was awarded Diplomate status from the American Board of Periodontology - an achievement beyond the mandatory educational requirement of the specialty. Dr. Tran has been practicing for over a decade and is current in all of the latest state-of-the-art technologies. Dr. Tran is an active member of the American Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Association, Honolulu County Dental Society, American Academy of Periodontology, the Terry Tanaka Study Club, and American Board of Periodontology.

Edmund A. Cassella, DMD

Having just commemorated the 25th anniversary in his Ala Moana office on Nov. 12, 2019, Dr. Edmund Cassella has more than 35 years of experience treating patients with periodontal (gum) issues. Although dental implants are part of his practice, his primary focus continues to be helping patients keep their teeth & maintain health through the treatment of periodontal diseases and the repair of bone and loss and gum recession. He states that inflammatory gum disease affects people's overall health far more than they realize and is a significant health risk if left untreated. Dr. Cassella graduated from dental school with the highest honors (OKU) in both academics and clinical performance. He received his Board Certifications status in periodontics in 1989 and has been re-certified through 2022. With 23 years of military services, he continues to be a leader in the community and represents his industry locally and nationally.
